Jewelled July at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 4

This week, I will be your host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. I have decided to make is simple this week and challenging us to use the following color combo: Luxe Blue, Marigold Orange and Brancing Blue. This week the Jewelled July Twist is "Add a Flower".

I am having such a good time with Tammy's images. What a talented artist. I did not realise how many of her images I have collected over the years. For this project I used Blue Lady on the above project. I made this card for one my co-worker's recent birthday. If you want to see more of A Day for Daisies images, please visit her store at http://www.adayfordaisies.com. You won't regret it.

A Day for Daisie donated wonderful images to the DT and is offering a $12 gift certificate from her online store to our monthly winner.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Can't wait to see what you will do with this color combination.

Asher's Invention by Coleen Kwan

LOL!! That was soooo cheesy!!! It took me only a few hours to read it. I was expecting that the story would eventually captured my attention... it did not! Do yourself a favour... don't read that book! I could have used those few hours to do better things.

The Hunter and The Hunted by Kelley Armstrong

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Thirteen is my lucky number. I figured out that the 13th book in this wonderful series would be totally awesome, but that did not happen. The book is made up of three short stories which leave you thirsty for more. The stories were tame compared to the other 12 books. I love this author and her writing is always interesting and she has a way to make you guess what will happen and take you somewhere else completely. This time; it was not the case. :( I am actually grateful that the book was not longer than it was. There will be more books (I hope) to redeem this one (I hope).

You have high expectations

My forth project for my featured designer spot at  Jackson's Digital Expressions July Release Party features a great image called A quiet moment. Although the name of the image should inspire serenity, I had a look at it and I knew what kind of card I wanted to do with it and it has nothing to do with being serene. I often hear my funny co-workers complaining that there is no money in the cards I give them for their birthdays. They say it jokingly... just to tease me. I always wanted to make a card that address this issue and that image was perfect for it. I am not sure to whom I will give it to, but I am sure it will make them smile.

I entered this card in the following challenges:
My Heart Pieces Digital Stamps Challenge - Use a square or circle
Divas by Design - #44 anything goes
Paper Shelter Challenge - #73 anything goes
Sisterhood of Crafters - Let's Hear It For The Boys

A wrinkle? Oh no!!!

This is my second project for my Featured Designer spot at Jackson's Digital Expressions July Release Party. This time, I used a super cute image called Get'n Ready Girl. My sister-in-law's birthday is coming up and I thought this image would be perfect for playing on the "age" thing. The sentiments are in French, so let me translate them for you. On the front, it says: "What? A wrinkle!". Inside it says: "Of course not! Just a character line! Happy Birthday!" It does not translate well, but you got the gits of it.

I entered this card in the following challenges:
Bearly Mine - #44 Girly Birthday Card
Digital Tuesday - include a digital element -#169 All Tied Up
Papertake Weekly - All Things Girlie
Top Tip Tuesday - #81 It's All About Circles

I'm being featured at Jackson's Digital Expressions

What an honor to be featured!! I am all giddy!! When my friend Chana told me that they wanted to feature me on Jackson's Digital Expressions and that I get to play with his new July images... it made my day. I was also a bit nervous and wanted to make sure that my projects would compliment Robert's wonderful images. I received six of them and it was so hard to choose which ones I was going to use, but since my friend Steve's birthday is coming up and he really likes basketball; I went with the Street Baller II image on my first project.

Thanks Chana for the invite. I had a great time coloring these fantastic images. I hope you like what I did with them.

I entered this card in the following challenges:
Kaboodle Doodles -Olympics, Sports, Outdoors, Adventure or Hobbies

This week, Ursula will be our host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. She is challenging us to use the following color combo: Java Sea Blue, Dark Secret Black and Winter Squirt White. This week the Jewelled July Twist is "Things with Wings".

I made the above card for my brother Richard's birthday. I love this image by A Day for Daisies called All For Show. What a great image to color. I got to use one of the technique I learned in Suzanne Dean's Copics Class where you use two markers of two different colors (4 in total) and blend them. I used BG15, BG11, YG63 and YG61 to color the feathers.

Our sponsor this month is A Day for Daisie. Tammy, the owner, donated wonderful images to the DT and is offering a $12 gift certificate from her online store to our monthly winner.

Cascade by Maryanne O'Hara

Cascade: A NovelCascade: A Novel by Maryanne O'Hara
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

First of all, before I tell you how much I like this book, I would like to thank Penguin Group for giving me an advance copy of this great book. It is always nice to get a free book!

I really enjoyed this book. Maybe because I related so much to the main character, Dez. Her life and ambitions are so similar to mine and deep down; I wish that my future will be similar to hers. The characters were real and likable and sometime not so much. The author portrayed the time period very well and overall the book was believable.

The descriptions of Dez's paintings were vivid and made me want to see them in person if this would have been possible. Some parts of the book were a bit long and some side stories a bit derailing. But beside that, it was a great read.

This book will be available in bookstores on August 16th, 2012.

Same Old Song and Dance at Guylou's

This week Carla is challenging us to make a project which relates to music or dance. One of my most favorite French song ever is "La vie en rose". When listening to Edith Piaf sings that songs, I get goose bumps all over. There is an English version of the song, but the words do not express the same deepth of someone in love like in French. Something is lost in the translation.

My mom's birthday is coming up and I made the above card for her. She is a fan of Edith Piaf too. I used one of my new images called "Princess Tara" and had fun with these wonderful papers by The Girl's Paperie.

The challenge starts today and ends on July 26th at 10pm. This will be the last challenge for Guylou's for the Summer. Our challenges will resume in on September 6th.

Remember if you use one of my images, you get two entries in the challenge. A random winner will be selected and will win a $10 gift certificate from Guylou's Online Storeand will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer on one of our challenges in the Fall.

Please take a moment to go see what my fellow DT members and our Guest DT, Lorraine, did for this challenge at Guylou's Inimitability.

Jewelled July at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 2

This week, Margaret will be our host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. She is challenging us to use the following color combo: Cranberry Red, Pea Green and Coffee Bean Brown. This week the Jewelled July Twist is "Add Ribbon".

I have to be honest and let you know that this week color combo had me totally stunned. I would not normally used these colors together and I was tempted to "call in sick" for this one. I just couldn't come up with anything until I checked my paper stack and it was like all the colors were calling on to me and somehow the craft fairy was inspiring me. My daughter Gabrielle was graduating from University in a few days and I wanted to make a card that expresses her sense of wonder and her wit. I looked in my "A Day for Daisies" (our monthly sponsor) folder to find an image that would say just that and found one that fit perfectly called: New Things.

Our sponsor this month is A Day for Daisie. Tammy, the owner, donated wonderful images to the DT and is offering a $12 gift certificate from her online store to our monthly winner.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Can't wait to see what you will do with this color combination.

This week, Laurian will be our host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. She is challenging us to use the following color combo: Dazzle Blue, Secret Cove Aqua and Rusted Fence. This week the Jewelled July Twist is "Add a window".

I made the above card with a wonderful image our monthly sponsor gave to me. I just love A Day For Daisies images. They are so beautiful and touching. I like this one in particular because it is so serene. This image is called Tender Thoughts. Our sponsor is offering a $12 gift card from her store to our monthly winner.
