Swirls and Pearls Challenge at Guylou's

It is my turn to challenge you at Guylou's. My challenge is to make a project with swirls and pearls. So get pearly and swirly on your projects. There are so many variations of this theme, pearl swirls, swirls and pearls.... the choice is yours.

I made the above card using one of my new images called Princess Tara on a Swing. I used a fantastic set by Basic Grey called Green at Heart. I used papers called Recycle and Seeding; the leaf swirl is from the Chip Sticker Shapes and the big flower from Bloomers. I added some pearls I got from the Dolorama, small roses I got at Walmart and glitter butterfly stickers by ColorBok.

The challenge starts today and ends on July 12th at 10pm. Remember if you use one of my images, you get two entries in the challenge. A random winner will be selected and will win a $10 gift certificate from Guylou's Online Store and will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer on one of our upcoming challenges.

A freebie will be available for 48 hours on the Challenge Blog. Don't miss it!!

2000 member party at The Outlawz

Can you believe it!?!? The Outlawz has reached 2000 members!!! What an accomplishment! I really believe that The Outlawz is one of the best challenge sites on the net. Everyone is so friendly and the challenges are fun!! I foresee that it will continue to grow as many many more crafters discover it.

To celebrate this milestone, The Outlawz is having a week long celebration. Each challenge group will have a special challenge relating to the theme "Where in the World". The Color challenge is challenging you to make a project using the colors of your country, state, providence, street or something that represents the colors from your from.

I made the above card using an image from Sliekje's Digital Stamps. I also used the Canadian Flag colors and added a maple leaf as my twist.
I used an image of a king to represent that Canada is part of the Commonwealth of Nations, normally referred to as the Commonwealth and formerly known as the British Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is an intergovernmental organisation of 54 independent member states which cooperate within a framework of common values and goals. These include the promotion of democracy, human rights, good governance, the rule of law, individual liberty, egalitarianism, free trade, multilateralism and world peace. The symbol of their free association is the Head of the Commonwealth, which is a ceremonial position currently held by Queen Elizabeth II. I just thought you would be interested to know this snippet of information. :)

I hope you will come and join the party at The Outlawz. There are so many prizes to win and lots of fun!!!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn't know if I was supposed to be happy or annoyed when the fifth book came out. A trilogy is three books as far as I know, but can we get too much of a good thing? Really? Can we? I loved the first three books, the fourth not so much and facing the task of reading the fifth one was a bit of a dilemma. In the end curiosity wan and I had to read it.

The first 60% (according to my Kindle) were hard. I had a hard time to get into the book, but I have to admit that that last 40% made it all worth while. I could not put the book down and finished it in one evening.

No regrets. Loved it! I will even recommend that you read it, but be aware that there will be a sixth book. Oh yeah! And I will read it too!

June Bug at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 3

This week, I will be the host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. I am challenging you to use the following bright color combo: Dragon Fruit Pink, Potentially Purple and Black of Night. This week the June Bug Twist is "Add Something with Wings".

I was all done with my card when I realised that I forgot about the twist. I really didn't know what to add to the card that had wings. I search in my limited craft supplies to find something suitable. I came across an envelope addressed to me from my friend Danni. Inside were a dozen of wonderful little butterflies in all kinds of colors. Several years ago, Danni made a card using the same beautiful butterflies. I asked her to mail me some and totally forgot about them (old age, you know!). Sorry Danni for not using them before, but now I found them; I will make good use of them. ;)

I used one of the images donated by our sponsor, The Digi Street, called Ice Cream Sundae.

Our sponsor this month is The Digi Street. Andy, the owner, donated three wonderful images to the DT and they will be offered to our monthly winner as our prize. Keep an eye for them, they are totally fabulous.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Can't wait to see what you will do with this color combination.

Simple Kraft Challenge

Simple? Clean? Kraft Paper? Well that is some challenge. I have a hard time keeping my cards simple. Clean is easier. I like straight lines and order. Kraft paper was the real challenge... I really don't have much in my supplies. I think it is time to purchase some more.

I made the above card for my friend Carolyn's father who is turning 80 in a few weeks. We are invited to a garden party in his honour. My other friend Allison and I are getting him a gift together and I thought it would be fun to give him a card with a image that represents the both of us.

I used two of my new images and combined them together: Francesca and the Ice Cream Cone and Leah and her latte.

The challenge starts today and ends on June 28th at 10pm. Remember if you use one of my images, you get two entries in the challenge. A random winner will be selected and will win a $10 gift certificate from Guylou's Online Store and will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer on one of our upcoming challenges.

June Bug at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 2

This week, Ursula will be our host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. She is challenging us to use the following soft color combo: Cool Jazz Aqua, Baked Clay Brown and Toque White. This week the June Bug Twist is "Add a flower".

I recently took Suzanne Dean's Copics Class in Baltimore and I got to color this wonderful little bear. Unfortunately, I don't know who created the image. Suzanne was teaching us a technique on how to color fur. I was not getting what she was trying to make us do and did my own thing. I was surprised when Suzanne told me that she liked what I did and that it was as good as what she was trying to teach me even if it was different.

June Bug at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 1

This week, Lori will be our host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. She is challenging us to use the following color combo: Slate Blue, Crisp White and Maroon. This week the June Bug Twist is "Add Something Geometric".

I made the above card for a co-worker's upcoming birthday. I used one of the images donated to the DT by our sponsor: The Digi Street called Big Shot Robot - BW. What an awesome image for a male card!! I used triangles and circles for the geometric twist.
