The Dovekeepers

The DovekeepersThe Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a story of courage and dignity in times of war. I felt the pain and joy of each characters through the so beautifully written words. Every page was bitter sweet and my thirst was not quenched until the last word. I totally recommend it!

I used one of my images for this card called Grandpa Bear. Although it was a childish look, I am hoping to gift this birthday card for a grown-up. I hope it will do.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Can't wait to see what you will do with this color combination.

Who do you call crazy? Ah... the Crazy Cat Lady Challenge at GI

This week at Guylou's Inimitability, my dear friend Gina is challenging us to create a project using the color scheme of a Sealpoint Siamese, meaning brown, cream (or off white) and light blue (that's the eyes). Gina has three beautiful Siamese cats. Here's a picture of two of them: Athena and Sophia.

The above card is for a coworker's upcoming birthday. I used Cat on the Fence which  will be available for free for 24 hours starting April 20 (see details on the challenge post) and fabulous papers from Basic Grey - Granola collection.

The challenge starts today and ends on May 3rd at 10pm. Remember if you use one of my images, you get two entries in the challenge. A random winner will be selected and will win a $10 gift certificate from Guylou's Online Store and will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer on one of our upcoming challenges.

Please take a moment to go see what my fellow DT members and our Guest Designer, Katie, did for this challenge at Guylou's Inimitability.

Artsy April at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 2

This week, I will be your host at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. I am challenging you to use the following flowery color combo: Easy Green, Desert Orange and Chinatown Orange. This week the Artsy April Twist is "Lift one of the DT Cards".

I made this card to thank our good friend Rusty from Oozak.com to thank him for his constant support of The Outlawz. Every months, Rusty provide a $50 gift certificate as an overall prize for one of our monthly winners. We are blessed to have him as one of our sponsors.

For this card, I went crazy on embellishments and did not use a digistamp (which is a rare thing). I created the postcard using Photoshop.

This month, our sponsor is Nana Vic. She is offering a $12 gift voucher from her store to our winner. Please make sure to visit her store and get acquainted with her wonderful digistamps.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Can't wait to see what you will do with this color combination.

Birthday card for my dad

I am moving at the end of the month and I need to start packing my craft supplies. I have a bunch of cards to make for April and May birthdays. It is funny how inspiration runs away when you are under pressure to deliver. The next card on my list was for my dad's birthday. I knew which image I wanted to use because he is such a nature guy. He spends hours walking in the woods and enjoying wild life. I used one of my images for this card, it is called Explorer Bear. I then looked for some inspiration on The Outlawz challenges and found this wonderful sketch in their Sketch challenge. My mojo was back! I hope you like it!

The inside sentiment is in French. Here's the translation: "If someone organised a contest for the most fantastic and lovable dad in the whole wide world... you would win hands down. Happy Birthday to the best of all dads."

First Card for the 15th CDAC Progressive Challenge

This is my first entry for the 15th Progressive Challenge at CDAC. You have to be a member of the CDAC site and also of the Progressing Challenge group in order to participate. For every challenge you get wonderful images from quality artists for FREE!! Oh yeah!! FOR FREE!!! There is a small fee if you are joining for the first time or have not met the "one project per challenge" minimum requirement ($1).

I just used my last boy card and I need to replenish my stuck as soon as I can because I have a series of boy (man) birthdays coming up. For this card, I used a wonderful image by TLC Creations called Huggy Bear Birthday Party. All papers and embellishments are leftovers from other projects.... I love it when I can fully use my stock like that! :)

A random winner will be selected and will win a $10 gift certificate from Guylou's Online Store and will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer on one of our upcoming challenges.

Artsy April at The Outlawz Color Challenge - Week 1

Welcome to a new month of challenges at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. This week, our host is Ursula and she is challenging us to use the following wonderful color combo: Nifty Turquoise, Reclining Green and Olympus White. This week the Artsy April Twist is "Add beads".

This month, our sponsor is Nana Vic. She is offering a $12 gift voucher from her store to our winner. She is such a great artist... please take a moment to visit her store and get acquainted with her wonderful digistamps.

For this challenge, I used one of Nana Vic's images called Stardust Cowboy. This image reminded me of Perry Como's song "Catch a Falling Star". I added part of the song as the inside sentiment.

I hope you will join us this week at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Can't wait to see what you will do with this color combination.
