Digistamps for Charity Fundraising Event: Doctors Without Borders - February 1-28

Guylou’s Inimitability (GI) and CDAC are proud to host the first Digistamps for Charity event to raise funds for a wonderful non-profit organization called Doctors Without Borders.

I created this unique and fun digi to help raise funds for this cause. GI will be donating 100% of the sale proceeds of Doctor Chuck between February 1-28, 2011 to DWB. Chuck aspires to become a doctor one day; he has a big heart to help the less fortunate and make a difference in this world... just like the courageous doctors who volunteer for Doctors Without Borders. Please take a moment to visit their site and to read all about the good they are doing in this world. You will be amazed.

You can help raise funds for this Nobel Prize-winning organization by purchasing Doctor Chuck. Doctor Chuck is available at a price of $2.00.

I thank you in advance for your participation and support. Let’s make a difference!

The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge - Orange, Grey & Cream

This week the colour challenge at The Outlawz is ORANGE, GREY and CREAM. The colour combo is inspired by the photo on the right.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the colour combo was the "Flyers of Philladelphia". This colour combo screams sport team colours. A friend's birthday is coming up and it is a tradition to make a card that somewhat makes fun of him. Last year I made a card with a fire fighter ready to hose down a fire with the following words in big letters: "Call 911, I just saw a big fire". Inside, a guy holding a cake with hundreds of candles, saying: "Nevermind, it's just your birthday cake."

My friend has gained some weight lately and we are trying to encourage him to be eat better and exercise more. He is a young guy, single and has his whole life in front of him. We want to make sure that he will enjoy a long life by making healthy choices. He has a great sense of humour and I know he will have a good laugh and maybe, just  maybe, this will be enough to get him off the couch and into the gym.

This cute image is by M. Duy. I found it by googling "Couch patato Coloring Book" and it is located at http://www.coolcarl.com/page/page/5288136.htm. I had a great time colouring this image which offers so many little details. I don't know who made the paper. It is orange and grey and has sport team names on it.  The #1 tag is from a school tag set I bought a long time ago at the Dollarama (just love that store).

Here are the Copics I used to colour this card:
Couch: C3, C6, C9
Patato: E53, E55, E57
Skin: E000, E00, E02
Hair and Coke bottle: E71, E74, E77
Pillow, bag of chips and pops: YR12, YR16, YR18, YG05, YG07, YG09
Runnig Shoes and box of cookies: B000, B02, B06

Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking out my card! I hope you will be inspired and play along in The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. You have the entire month of January to complete each of the challenges!!

Heart Shaped Kittens - Valentine Card

This card is a special request from a co-worker. He saw my Sundae & Heart card and asked if it would be possible to make a card with his two cats. His requirements were: Two cats in the colours of his own (see picture below) and a heart.

So I got my drawing pad and started different sketches. None that I liked. :(   My next idea was to buy one. I googled to see if other digi artists had two cats with a heart image and could not find anything that matched the requirements. I am sure someone will read this and will glady tell me that there are such digi out there. I am sure there is; I just couldn't find them with the search criteria I used.

I thought that maybe I could print an image and use it on the card. That solution would not match the colours of the cats, but with some Photoshop tricks, I could probably make it happen. So I googled "Two cats heart" and found an adorable picture on a site called "Cats picture and Videos" and I was hooked. I had to draw that!! (Since I am not sure what is the copyright for this picture, I just posted the link for your to see it.)

All my digis usually comes from my imagination, but I have to admit that this request had me stumped and finding that super cute picture really helped me this time around.

Another thing I learned to do this weekend is those baby Prima roses. I watched several YouTube videos and kind of did my own thing (as usual). They are so fun to do and not that difficult. The nice part is that you can match the card colour to perfection.

The inside sentiment was easy, as I was singing the song the entire time I was making the card:

Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go.
You have made my life complete and I love you so.
Love me tender, love me true, all my dreams fulfill.
For, my darlin', I love you and I always will.
Happy Valentine

So you have it folks! A card with Heart Shaped Kittens!

300 members!!! Wow!! Double Wow Blog Hop!!

Guylou's Inimitability Group on CDAC has reached 300 members and we are celebrating!! Party!! Party!! Party!! The DT decided to go down memory lane and show some of our favorite projects made with Guylou's Inimitability Digis. This is a blog hop, folks!! Let's have some fun!!

Guylou’s Inimitability is where you will start and end the blog hop and if you have come here from Carmen's Piece of Paper then you are going in the right direction! If not, then please start at Guylou’s Inimitability or refer to the blog hop list at the end of this post to get you on the right track. The hop will be open today from 9:00am to 9:00pm EST.

Being the artist behind the Guylou's Inimitability digistamps does give me an advantage when it comes to make cards with GI digis. I usually have a card in mind when I draw an image, so it comes together pretty easy. Here are some of my favorite cards I made:

This card was made for my dad. This digistamp is inspired by my dad who loves to spend time in the woods and cutting trees to make logs which he uses all winter in his antic wood stove and keep the house warm.

I love this card because I got to play with my Cricut to create the skull shapes. I often use Friendly Pirate on my birthday cards for men.

I love bold colours and mixing papers that have different patterns. This card is a good example of that. I like that image because it reminds me the time when I was a child dreaming of growing up and finding my place in this world. Now I am an adult and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up!!! LOL!!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed what you saw! Your next stop is Tracy's Present Scraps. Have fun!

Red Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability

Valentine is quickly approaching and I have been preparing a few cards at the request of some of my friends and co-workers. As I am colouring my Cupid image, it dawn on me that maybe not everyone knows how Cupid came to be. Here's en excerpt from the Wikipedia description of Cupid:

In the Roman version, Cupid was the son of Venus (goddess of love) and Mars. In the Greek version he was named Eros and seen as one of the primordial gods (though other myths exist as well). Cupid was often depicted with wings, a bow, and a quiver of arrows. The following story is almost identical in both cultures; the most familiar version is found in Lucius Apuleius's Metamorphoses. When Cupid's mother Venus became jealous of the princess Psyche, who was so beloved by her subjects that they forgot to worship Venus, she ordered Cupid to make Psyche fall in love with the vilest thing in the world. While Cupid was sneaking into her room to shoot Psyche with a golden arrow, he accidentally scratches himself with his own arrow and falls deeply in love with her.

Better be careful with that pointy arrow!! LOL!!

For this card, I actually fusioned two of my digis: Cupid and Forever Heart (coming soon to my online store). The colouring was tricky as I was trying to give it some dimension. I like those two images together and if I ever would consider having a tattoo, that would be it.

Since the colour of love is red and it is almost Valentine, Guylou's Inimitability is having a "Red Challenge", you will need to use that colour somewhere on your card. You have several opportunities to make your entry count:
  • You can enter any newly made project having the colour red somewhere in the card and it will count for one entry.
  • If your project includes a Guylou's Inimitability digistamp, it will count for two entries.
  • If your project includes the feature digistamp "Cupid", it will count for three entries.
No GI image, no sweat. You can visit Guylou's Inimitability Store to purchase one or you can have a look for a freebie in her groups on Crafters Digital Art Center or Paper Craft Planet!

The winner will be awarded a digistamp of her choice from Guylou's Inimitability Store and will also be invited to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming challenge and will get another GI digistamp to make a card or project along the DT.

The challenge runs until February 3rd at 10pm. Love is in the air; Everywhere I look around; Love is in the air; Every sight and every sound. Hope to see some love on this project too!! :)

The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge

This week the colour challenge at The Outlawz is PINK and BROWN. I love pink, that's my favorite colour and it works beautifully with brown. So I was quite happy to work with that colour combo. Danni, a fantastic friend of mine, made that totally awesome bra and pantie card two years ago and I always wanted to try making one, but being single, I could not come up with an occasion to use it. Since Valentine is around the corner and I have some orders for V cards from friends and co-workers, I thought this design would make a pretty awesome card for the occasion.. You can find the pattern at Stamp Owl's Studio.

It was pretty challenging to photograph this card as it has something on both side. Here are some close-ups to help you see the details:

I used my paper shapers (34-0001) scissors to cut the lace. The ribbon is from the Dollarama and the heart locket is a gift from my dear friend Theresa from South Africa. She recently blessed me with wonderful goodies to use on my cards.

I can't remember who the paper I used is from. Sorry about that.

The back of the card is the pantie part. I hand drew a tattoo on her cheek. It is a winged heart that says "Forever".

I used Copic R46 for the heart, C9 for the lettering and B000 for the wings.

The inside sentiment says:
We really make a great pair!
Happy Valentine!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I always love visitors! I hope I inspire you and that you will visit the The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge and play along. We are looking forward to see your creations! You have the entire month of January to complete each of the challenges!!

Anything Goes Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability

Happy New Year! 2011 started on a sad note with the loss of my dear Joy, but I have great hope that it will be a good year otherwise. At the beginning of every year, I make resolutions that I really intend to keep, but often don't. This year, some of my resolutions are to exercise more, make new friends and go on a trip somewhere in Europe or on a Caribbean island. I love to travel, see new places, meet new people. I think this is why I like that image of Angela. She looks so free on her scooter with the wind in her hair. I had fun making this car and trying unusual paper combination and design. It turned out not bad at all.

Guylou's Inimitability is having an Anything Goes challenge this week. You have several opportunities to make your entry count:
  • You can enter any newly made project and it will count for one entry.
  • If your project includes a Guylou's Inimitability digistamp, it will count for two entries.
  • If your project includes the feature digistamp "Angela", it will count for three entries.

The challenge runs until January 20th at 10pm. So don't wait! Get to your craft table and go creative!! But before you do that, go see what the other DT members and our first Guest Designer did with Angela on Guylou's Inimitability. What talented artists!!

Oh yeah! I also enter this card in the Alphabet Challenge Blog. This week the challenge is J for Journey.
